Golden Globes 2017

As you probably know, the Golden Globes took place on Sunday was surrounded with controversy.  The red carpet styles were a bit underwhelming to me, and I mourned the absence of Jennifer Lawrence. There are usually so many iconic looks from the Golden Globes, but there were few that stood out to me this year.

Here are my grades for the night:

 today.com

Reese Witherspoon glowed in a yellow Atelier Versace gown with a Tyler Ellis clutch and Tiffany & Co. jewelry.  This is Reese's perfect color!  It pairs so nicely with her skin tone and hair color!  Reese always wears timeless pieces, and i love that she never tries to overdo it.  Stay classy, Reese!
Grade: A+

I'm really conflicted over this one.  Natalie Portman wore a mustard Prada gown with a Tomansino clutch and Tiffany & Co. jewels. I absolutely love Natalie, and usually her red carpet choices are on point, but this look just didn't cut it for me.  She seems to be channeling Jackie O., but I would rather see her in a more defined dress with a longer train. There were probably less gown choices for her since she is pregnant, but there has to be a dress better than this.  Sometimes simple is better, but here, it is not.
Grade: D-

 Popsugar.com

Sofia Vergara wore a metallic, beaded Zuhair Murad gown that left little to the imagination with its sheer cutouts.  She paired the gown with Lorraine Schwartz earrings and a high ponytail.  It is nice to see Sofia change up her style and veer away from the mermaid-style dress.  I'm not a fan of sheer dresses, so that is a notch down for me.  Sofia can definitely pull off the look though!  I hope I look as good as Sofia when I'm her age!
Grade: B+

fustany.com

Kristen Bell was one hot mama in her plunging, sequined Jenny Packham gown.  She is jaw-to-the-floor gorgeous in this gown!  The color is so stunning on her, and her hair is goals!  Dax is one lucky man!
Grade: A+

yahoo.com

Emma Stone literally and metaphorically shined in a starry Valentino gown with a Tiffany & Co. necklace.  The dress itself is beautiful, but I'm not a fan of the stars.  It makes the gown look a bit childish to me.  I with that Emma would have worn a dark or vibrant color gown that would have paired with her light skin tone better.  She pulls off the look and looks beautiful, but I'm just not crazy about her choice.
Grade: B

 popsugar.com

Gina Rodriguez dominated the red carpet in her 1920's inspired Naeem Khan dress and Chopard jewels.  Gina has stunned the past two years at the Golden Globes, and she did not disappoint this year.  Gina is a gorgeous woman, and this dress somehow makes her even more beautiful.  White is such an amazing color on her!  I love everything about this look!
Grade: A++

usmagazine.com

Mandy Moore is defying the aging process, and I want to know her secret.  She looked heavenly in her navy Naeem Khan gown with a long cape and Neil Lane jewels.  I haven't seen a lot of Mandy in the last few years, but she has come back with a vengeance. Give me Moore!!
Grade: A+++

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, Blake Lively shut down the red carpet in a Atelier Versace gown with $7 million (!!!) worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewels.  Blake could wear anything, and she would make everyone love it. She's gorgeous, and she knows it.  Her confidence is always inspiring.  No need to worry about her post-baby body!
Grade: A+++

Hold on to your hats kids. Here is my favorite look of the night.

AY. DIOS. MIOS.  Priyanka Chopra is life!!  I still can't get over how flawlessly beautiful she is in this Ralph Lauren Collection gown, not to mention, $6 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.  Every single part of this look is perfect. Priyanka will never be underestimated on the red carpet again. She set it on fire and shut it down. FLAWLESS.
Grade: A++++ (to infinity)

Blake Lively: Cannes Film Festival 2016

Blake Lively has made her presence known at the Cannes Film Festival this year. I always look forward to Cannes, because celebrities always put their best foot forward with their most stunning looks. Blake Lively is no exception. Every year she attends, she wears the most gorgeous gowns.

This year, Blake was the talk of the town, as there were reports that she was pregnant. To be honest, I was skeptical of these rumors until I saw her at Cannes. If I may say so myself, Blake is even more gorgeous when she's pregnant!

Here are some of my favorite looks of Blake's from Cannes Film Festival 2016!

Blake arrived in Cannes with an all white ensemble looking radiating! From this picture, you could never tell she was pregnant. Maybe she was just hiding the bump to show off in her amazing gowns to come?

Opening night of the festival, Blake wore a black Salvatore Ferragamo dress coat and kept everyone guessing if she was pregnant or not. I don't know how she can wear a black coat and still look perfect. Anyway Blake styles her hair, she looks amazing! #hairgoals

Blake continued to keep everyone guessing when wearing a Juan Carlos Obando jumpsuit and looked absolutely stunning doing so. Red is definitely Blake's color! My only question is how do you go to the bathroom? You would have to partially undress, right? I guess if you're a celebrity, you have people figure those things out for you.

Blake wore a mustard Valentino dress with an empire waist. She still doesn't look pregnant to me, but she still looks gorgeous. The color of the dress is not my favorite, but it totally works for her and matches her golden locks. In other words, Blake can pretty much wear anything and look amazing.

Cinderella, is that you? Blake wore a blue Vivienne Westwood gown to conceal her bump. This was my absolute favorite look of Blake from Cannes! If there is ever another Cinderella movie made, I nominate Blake for the role! There are no words to describe how beautiful she looks!

Blake wore a shimmering Atelier Versace gown, and I was still not convinced she was pregnant. Yes, she has a bit of a tummy here, but who doesn't? I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt because the gown looked so amazing on her. It reminds me of her gown from the 2014 Met Gala!

After I saw this picture, I started to get suspicious. She wore a caped Giambattista Valli beaded minidress with striped heals and decided to go for a windswept updo. Blake looks gorgeous, and you can barely see her bump. I got suspicious, because this looks more like a baby bump and not a food bump. Trust me, I would know.

I knew it was time to get excited now, because Blake is pregnant! How could that not be a baby bump? She wore a floral Chanel coat over a striped dress, as if to say, "Here's my bump!" On another note, her heels and hair are amazing!

And, there it is! Blake finally showed off her bump in a navy, body-con Versace dress. It's like her bump just grew overnight! I guess when you have amazing stylists, they can make that happen! Bring on the mom-to-be glow!

Blake Lively Pregnant, Gorgeous In A Blue Dress On The Red Carpet At Cannes

Blake obviously loves Disney, because she channeled Elsa from Frozen in this Atelier Versace gown for her last appearance on the red carpet. She left no doubt that there is another mini Blake on the way. Honestly, the gown is not my favorite that Blake has worn, but who cares? Another Lively-Reynolds is on the way!

Are you excited for Blake and Ryan's new addition? What was your favorite look? Let me know in the comments!

The 73rd Golden Globe Awards

The 73rd Golden Globe Awards took place in Beverly Hills this past Sunday. The stars looked incredible Sunday night, and here are my favorites.

Jennifer Lopez wore a yellow Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown with Harry Winston diamonds, Jimmy Choo heels, and a Judith Leiber clutch. JLo looks incredible here! She sure knows how to pull off a dark lipstick. Everything about this look is perfect. I love the cape and train of the gown!

Olivia Wilde wore a shimmering, scarlet Michael Kors Collection gown with Bulgari jewels and clutch. I love the dress, but I'm not too crazy about the hair and makeup. The eye shadow looks very harsh, and I think Olivia would look better with a side part instead of a center part. I love the neckline and length of the gown though!

Amy Adams wore a Atelier Versace gown with Neil Lane jewels. The orange color of the dress compliments her skin and hair color very well. I love this color on her! The detail on the dress is perfect. It looks amazing how it gathers at the waist and goes all the way down the train of the gown. The gown perfectly hugs her curves too!

Lady GaGa wore a black velvet Atelier Versace gown with Neil Lane diamonds. I'm not crazy about the padded hips of the dress. It looks a bit odd to me. Also, her makeup is a bit bland. A nice pop of color on her lips would have looked a little better. The neckline and train on the gown are beautiful. This is a very subtle look for Lady GaGa, and I like it much more than her adventurous looks of the past.

Brie Larson was golden! She wore a golden Calvin Klein Collection dress with Tiffany & Co. jewels. She looks incredible in this dress, and especially in this golden color. I like that she still left her hair down, but didn't cover the strap neckline of the dress. Plus, the dress shows off her amazing abs. If you have them, show them off!

Taylor Schilling wore a Thakoon evening suit with Monique Péan jewelry, Giuseppe Zanotti heels, and an Anya Hindmarch clutch. Usually I love what Taylor wears, but everything about this looks like a mess. I don't like the suit. It seems to be ill fitting- maybe that's how it is supposed to fit. To me, it looks like she has a half-zipped track suit on. Her makeup is nothing to get excited about either. Very bland. The only thing I like about this look is her hair and heels. I love the messy-yet-chic hairstyle. That's still not enough to save the look.

Here are my top 4 looks of the night:

Gina Rodriguez was the belle of the ball with this Zac Posen gown with Neil Lane jewels! She looks amazing! The off-the-shoulder neckline looks great on her, and her hair and makeup look great even though they're simple. Plus, the dress has pockets!

Jenna Dewan-Tatum looked like a princess! This Zuhair Murad Couture gown is gorgeous! She paired the gown with Lorraine Schwartz jewels. I love the navy blue color and the metallic designs on the dress. Jenna knows how to look gorgeous, yet still keep it simple. She didn't try to glam things up with jewelry and let the dress speak for itself!

Jennifer Lawrence wore a  Dior Haute Couture gown with Chopard diamonds. Jennifer looked incredible from head to toe! I absolutely loved the cut outs on the waist and the diamonds on the neck collar. The color is stunning with her skin tone and the length of the dress is perfect. The makeup and hair pulled the whole look together perfectly.

And my favorite look of the night was...

Saiorse Ronan! She was absolutely stunning!! My favorite looks of the night! I always love what Saiorse wears and how put together she is at events. She wore a Yves Saint Laurent Couture by Hedi Slimane gown with Chopard earrings, and she looked like a goddess. The white is an amazing color on her, and the cape makes her look like a goddess even more! She looks so put together head to toe. Stunning!

People's Choice Awards 2016

The People's Choice Awards 2016 took place last night in LA. Here's a look at what some of the stars wore to the event.

Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson wore a strapless, white pantsuit and accessorized with a cylindrical metallic clutch. Her look was spot on, except the pant's legs. It looks very odd to me that her feet are hidden. Yes, her legs look much longer, but she also looks peg-legged. On the bright side, her hair and makeup were gorgeous.

Kaley Cuoco poses in the press room during the People's Choice Awards 2016 at Microsoft Theater on January 6, 2016 in Los Angeles, California.

Now, don't get me wrong. I loved Kaley Cuoco's dress, but the sneakers... really? She has to know better. I'm all about being comfortable. If she wants to be comfortable on the red carpet and ditch the heels, go for it! But please stay classy while doing so. Let's see what you've got next time Kaley.

Julianne Hough attends the People's Choice Awards 2016 at Microsoft Theater on January 6, 2016 in Los Angeles, California.

Julianne Hough knows how to dress. She is always so stunning on the red carpet, and last night was no exception. I absolutely love the dress. Near the bottom it does look a little like a trash bag, but the top half redeems the dress. The off-the-shoulder sleeves look amazing on her. The only thing I would change about the look is her hair. It looks like she just threw it up really quick into a topknot. Maybe she just took too long finding the perfect dress? Let's hope so!

Christina Milian attends the People's Choice Awards 2016 at Microsoft Theater on January 6, 2016 in Los Angeles, California.

I have split feelings about Christina Milian's dress from last night. Part of me loves the dress, and the other half is saying it's to gaudy- the sequins are a bit over-the-top. I love the color of the dress and how it looks on Christina, but the shiny sequins are a deal breaker. She still looks beautiful anyways.

And now a moment of appreciation for the men...

And the best for last...

Ed Westwick
Ed Westwick...*sigh*

The Pretty Little Liar were 2 for 2 last night.

Lucy Hale attends the People's Choice Awards 2016 at Microsoft Theater on January 6, 2016 in Los Angeles, California.

Lucy Hale wore a lacy gown with a criss-cross ribbon front. From the chest up, this dress is fab, but from the waist down, it's dreadful. I think my grandma could have made the same dress with her old curtains. Don't get me wrong, Her makeup is gorgeous, but the dress is hopeless.

Troian Bellisario

Troian Bellisario also had a dreadful look last night. I love the dress itself, but the print is awful. Maybe they found this material in my grandma's house like Lucy's dress. They were on the right track, but didn't fully execute the whole look. Troian is a natural beauty though, and I love her hair and makeup here.

Now for the two best dressed PLL and best dressed of the night.

Ashley Benson looked perfect head to toe. The only thing I would change would be the shoes. I think close toed pumps would have worked better, and I think the dress needed some detain in the body. It's hard to tell what is what since the dress is so dark. Beautiful either way though.

The best look of the night goes to....

Shay Mitchell     Actress Shay Mitchell attends the People's Choice Awards 2016 at Microsoft Theater on January 6, 2016 in Los Angeles, California.

Shay Mitchell! How stunning does she look?! I am in love with this dress! Her styling was on point last night. Her smokey eye and slicked hair all work perfectly with the dress. The metallic bars on the thigh are a beautiful detail in the dress. Who blames her for showing off those amazing legs? Keep it up, Shay.

Pretty Little... winners: Shay and her Pretty Little Liars co-stars, L to R, Ashley Benson, Trojan Bellisario and Lucy Hale posed backstage after nabbing the award for Favorite Cable TV Drama

Well done, girls. I guess we're even.

Who do you think was best dressed last night? Let me know in the comments!

Met Gala 2015: "China: Through the Looking Glass"

Last night was the 2015 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and the theme was "China: Through the Looking Glass."  Some of the stars wore generic outfits that were not very inspired, and some wore outfits that were obviously inspired by the Chinese culture.  I'm going to focus on the celebrities that committed and stayed true to the theme.

 Link

Rihanna wore a yellow Guo Pei Couture coat with a ginormous train.  She paired this with a gold headpiece and strap heels.  I'm not exactly crazy about her look, but it is inspired, and I give her credit for fully committing to the coat as a dress look.

 Link

Zendaya wore a high-low Fausto Puglisi dress with matching headpiece and jewelry.  I'm glad she kept her hair and makeup simple with this look.  This look was clearly inspired, and I think it looks fabulous.

 Link

Selena Gomez wore a cutout Vera Wang gown which featured tassels on the front and back.  She completed the look with a white orchid headpiece and red lips.  I think Selena was on the right track with this look, but it doesn't scream Chinese to me.  She looks stunning none-the-less.

Link

Sarah Jessica Parker wore a fiery Philip Treacy hat and H&M gown.  I love that she has made a tradition out of wearing crazy headpieces.  They may be a little out there, but that's what sets SJP apart from the other stars.

Link

Anne Hathaway wore a gold hooded Ralph Lauren gown paired with ear cuffs and a golden clutch.  I absolutely love Anne's choice in gowns.  She looks fierce in this golden gown.

Link

Kate Hudson shined in a custom made Michael Kors gown.  This was one of my favorite looks of the night.  She is radiating in this dress.

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior.

I can't go without mentioning Jennifer Lawrence, who was co-chair of the event.  She wore a floral Dior Couture gown paired with a statement necklace.  It didn't look very inspired to me, but she looked beautiful anyways.  I think the floral made the dress busy enough, but the necklace was a little too much.  If she ditched the necklace, the dress would look much better.

I had a hard time deciding which of these next two women was my favorite.  Both had strongly inspired looks, but they were both equally gorgeous.

 Link

Fan Bingbing wore a colorful cape and a gold strapless sequin gown, both by Christopher Bu.  This was possibly the most inspired look of the night.  I have nothing bad to say about this!  She looks absolutely stunning and definitely the star who turned heads.

 Link

Courtney Eaton was my other favorite look.  She donned a gold Dolce & Gabbana gown paired with a golden headpiece and drop earrings.  The only thing I can find wrong is her heels.  I would have loved to see her in gold heels, but the black does add a bit of contrast and direct focus on the dress.  Her makeup and hair are on point and she is stunning.  I loved her choice from when I first saw the picture, and I still do.

Who was your favorite at the Met Gala?  Let me know in the comments!
