Golden Globes 2017

As you probably know, the Golden Globes took place on Sunday was surrounded with controversy.  The red carpet styles were a bit underwhelming to me, and I mourned the absence of Jennifer Lawrence. There are usually so many iconic looks from the Golden Globes, but there were few that stood out to me this year.

Here are my grades for the night:

Reese Witherspoon glowed in a yellow Atelier Versace gown with a Tyler Ellis clutch and Tiffany & Co. jewelry.  This is Reese's perfect color!  It pairs so nicely with her skin tone and hair color!  Reese always wears timeless pieces, and i love that she never tries to overdo it.  Stay classy, Reese!

I'm really conflicted over this one.  Natalie Portman wore a mustard Prada gown with a Tomansino clutch and Tiffany & Co. jewels. I absolutely love Natalie, and usually her red carpet choices are on point, but this look just didn't cut it for me.  She seems to be channeling Jackie O., but I would rather see her in a more defined dress with a longer train. There were probably less gown choices for her since she is pregnant, but there has to be a dress better than this.  Sometimes simple is better, but here, it is not.

Sofia Vergara wore a metallic, beaded Zuhair Murad gown that left little to the imagination with its sheer cutouts.  She paired the gown with Lorraine Schwartz earrings and a high ponytail.  It is nice to see Sofia change up her style and veer away from the mermaid-style dress.  I'm not a fan of sheer dresses, so that is a notch down for me.  Sofia can definitely pull off the look though!  I hope I look as good as Sofia when I'm her age!

Kristen Bell was one hot mama in her plunging, sequined Jenny Packham gown.  She is jaw-to-the-floor gorgeous in this gown!  The color is so stunning on her, and her hair is goals!  Dax is one lucky man!

Emma Stone literally and metaphorically shined in a starry Valentino gown with a Tiffany & Co. necklace.  The dress itself is beautiful, but I'm not a fan of the stars.  It makes the gown look a bit childish to me.  I with that Emma would have worn a dark or vibrant color gown that would have paired with her light skin tone better.  She pulls off the look and looks beautiful, but I'm just not crazy about her choice.

Gina Rodriguez dominated the red carpet in her 1920's inspired Naeem Khan dress and Chopard jewels.  Gina has stunned the past two years at the Golden Globes, and she did not disappoint this year.  Gina is a gorgeous woman, and this dress somehow makes her even more beautiful.  White is such an amazing color on her!  I love everything about this look!
Grade: A++

Mandy Moore is defying the aging process, and I want to know her secret.  She looked heavenly in her navy Naeem Khan gown with a long cape and Neil Lane jewels.  I haven't seen a lot of Mandy in the last few years, but she has come back with a vengeance. Give me Moore!!

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, Blake Lively shut down the red carpet in a Atelier Versace gown with $7 million (!!!) worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewels.  Blake could wear anything, and she would make everyone love it. She's gorgeous, and she knows it.  Her confidence is always inspiring.  No need to worry about her post-baby body!
Grade: A+++

Hold on to your hats kids. Here is my favorite look of the night.

AY. DIOS. MIOS.  Priyanka Chopra is life!!  I still can't get over how flawlessly beautiful she is in this Ralph Lauren Collection gown, not to mention, $6 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.  Every single part of this look is perfect. Priyanka will never be underestimated on the red carpet again. She set it on fire and shut it down. FLAWLESS.
Grade: A++++ (to infinity)
